I’m sure we all remember the moments when we’ve eaten truffle. I barely remember what I had for breakfast yesterday and yet I remember the truffle ravioli I ate on my honeymoon from Flour + Water in San Francisco’s Mission District in vivid, vivid detail.
Cutting open that silken pasta and burrata covered in black truffle spots comes oozing out sealed the deal for me. I’m calling it… outside of Italy, it’s San Fran that is producing some of the best Italian food I’ve ever eaten. Mixing that with the Sichuan kimchi with macadamia oil at Mission Chinese Food and the fried chicken sandwich at The Bird, and you’ve got one of the best and most diverse food cities in the world.
