While I can handle the traffic and bustle of Bangkok, it’s the double standard of this city that gets me every time. The contradiction between a golden plated 5 star hotel placed just meters away from a low hanging power line and pot hole that, if fallen into, could break a leg is almost too much. But that’s Bangkok. A city of delicious contrast, authentic culture, fashion for days and the full flavoured nature of its food. It’s grit and it’s packed with some of my favourite eats in Asia. Follow my favs and you’ll be wanting to say Sawadee ka way way more often!
Best of Bangkok…
Nahm – David Thompson’s baby. Enough said.
Soulfood Mahanakorn – authentic dishes with produce coming straight from their farm.
Craftbeer – craft beer (go figure!) nestled in a grassy courtyard.
Night hawkers along Suk soi 38 – cheap and cheerful pad thai, som tum and gai bing.
Supanniga- simplicity at its best. Who knew fish sauce with cabbage could be this mind-blowing?
Rocket – brunch straight from Nordic hipsters.
Somboon Seafood – the institution that is Somboon dishes up crab unimaginably good.
